Star Trek Into Darkness (2013) - 4 stars out of 5 stars

Finally I get it.After many discussions about new things that have been reworked to appeal to a new generation and still keeping a tie to the original,I can except this second entry into the Star Trek film family even more than the first, which I did review here but was unhappy with the destruction of the planet Vulcan.Thats what reboots do.Many have told me that they hated the new"Battlestar Galattica",reviewed on this blog, for such reason, while I enjoyed it much more than the original. Many say the same about these new Star Trek films. However this 2013 release than runs 132 minutes brought back some favorite old TV series chestnuts along with film references and mixed them up in new and exciting,at least for me,ways.I took 1 star off for a rather lame ending but hey, even the old Trek films were sometimes guilty of that.I wont go into the cast and all the old references but to mention that  Karl Urban     as Bones does really look like what you might think the late Deforest Kelly might have looked like and the favorite new angle on the little know prior marriage of Kirk, first noted in The Wrath of Kahn",reviewed on this blog,is teased at by  Alice Eve as Carol Marcus, that future wife. All in all,I check out another if it comes. Trailer URL follows the picture and a IMDB summary below.

When the crew of the Enterprise is called back home, they find an unstoppable force of terror from within their own organization has detonated the fleet and everything it stands for, leaving our world in a state of crisis. With a personal score to settle, Captain Kirk leads a manhunt to a war-zone world to capture a one man weapon of mass destruction. As our heroes are propelled into an epic chess game of life and death, love will be challenged, friendships will be torn apart, and sacrifices must be made for the only family Kirk has left: his crew.
