Guarding Tess - 3 1/2 stars out of 5 stars

Surprising movie with Shirley MacLaine as Tess Carlisle, window of a former US President and a surprising understated Nicolas Cage as Doug Chesnic, head of the secret service detail assigned to protect her. Released in 1994 and running only 96 minutes its no classic but its a little fluff when your always getting hammered in many movies.Funny and witty with a little suspenseful ending, its good escapist fun in a washington world that sorrily needs it.Trailer URL follows the pix and a IMDB summary below.Worth 3 1/2 stars for fluff.

Doug is a Secret Service Agent who has just completed his stint in charge protecting Tess Carlisle, widow of a former U.S. President, and close personal friend of the President. He finds that she has requested that he not be rotated but instead return to be her permanent detail. Doug is crushed. He wants off her detail. She is very difficult to guard and makes her detail crazy with her whims and demands. Doug returns with no idea of how to continue dealing with her. Written by John Vogel <jlvogel@comcast.net>
