American Graffiti - 3 1/2 stars out of 5 stars

Maybe the best soundtrack for a period piece ever made with a generous dose of"the wolfman".Sadly I was a east coast urban boy without the reference points on cars and cruising main streets and drag racing needed to really tell how authentic this movie really is.Thus only the 3 1/2 stars.Released in 1973 and running 110 minutes it centers on one night in in the early 60's and a bunch of teens coping.Nothing special there and we've seen it many times but this may be the trend setter film with a truly young cast that made great films and TV shows in later years.Oh and the film makers??Lucas and Coppola.Still I really didn't care about the characters and well I was sort of feeling empty afterwards. You will have to decide if its a"classic"or just a watershed trend setting film.Trailer URL follows after the pix and a IMDB summary below.

Two boys are scheduled to leave for college in the morning. Each has his own doubts. They spend a final evening cruising the strip and have every adventure possible before dawn when they will each have to decide what they will do. Written by John Vogel <jlvogel@comcast.net>
