The Detective - 3 1/2 stars out of 5 stars

Released in 1968 and running 114 minutes, this is a old Sinatra film from a genre,film-nor,that really isn't made anymore. Thus we take 1 and 1/2 stars off for being very dated and that style which was never a favorite of mine.So why watch?? Well,Sinatra was a fine actor and this role of a NYC hard nose detective fits him like a fine song.Lee Remick may be the most under rated and beautiful actress of the day and the rest of the cast is a mix of TV and future film stars. The story is stark and VERY NYC before the younger generation takes over. Its good for film buffs and those who are interested in this genre but the kids,no,they will be bored.Trailer URL follows the pix and a IMDB summary is below.

Police detective Joe Leland investigates the murder of a homosexual man. While investigating, he discovers links to official corruption in New York City in this drama that delves into a world of sex and drugs. Written by Regis M. Donovan <regis@apocalypse.org>
