The Rocketeer - 3 1/2 stars out of 5 stars

Cliff Secord: Jenny, prepare yourself for a shock: I'm the Rocketeer.
Jenny: The Rocke-who?
Cliff Secord: [frustrated] Oh, for crying out loud, haven't you read the papers?
Jenny: No, I've been working all day.

That kinda dialogue always gets me and saved this movie.Thats why you see it.Released in 1991 and running 108 minutes,it is a funny if rather silly and unimportant film.Hey,that is sometimes all we really ask of a film and thats why I took 1 and 1/2 stars off.Ask not,for much and you'll be pleasantly surprised.Ask for a classic and you'll be deeply disappointed. Its a sort of wishful idea of Howard Hughes inventing a rocket pack to strap on your back and allow you fly.Add Nazi spies in 1938 and a strained love affair and you have a fine Saturday night flick. So enjoy some fluff for a change.Trailer URL follows the pix and a IMDB summary below. The acting is adverse at best but a nice cheese cake era stocking shot by Jenny adds to the fluffiness.

Straight from the pages of a pulp comic from a past era, the Rocketeer recreates 1930's Hollywood, complete with gangsters, Nazi spies, and the growth of the Age of Aviation. Young pilot Cliff Secord stumbles on a top secret rocket-pack and with the help of his mechanic/mentor, Peevee, he attempts to save his girl and stop the Nazis as The Rocketeer.
