Love And Other Drugs - 4 stars out of 5 stars

Comedy is always debated as to if its funny with or without profanity, the same can be said today with gratuities sex scenes. That plus only teasing us with very real issues in the drug/medical community are the reasons I had to take 1 star off this otherwise really interesting and in its own way, very touching love story that was released in 2010 and runs 112 minutes.I was drawn to the movie by the cast including the two lovers,Jake Gyllenhaal and Anne Hathaway but was surprised to see old favorites George Segal and Oliver Platt.New youthful funny man Josh Gad also impresses. But enough about the cast. The story of the runaway medical/drug connections and the inept and inefficient health care industry are shown and then pulled away from to concentrate on the romantic side of the story.I was very disappointed, but the little they did explain is a public service and I wish more would come in future films. The romance is very hedonistic and thus hard to  sympathize  with if not for the rare talents of  Gyllenhaal and Hathaway that allow you to accept the romance as more than just soft porn on the screen.Once you get by that, you can see a rough road ahead and cheer for them to get by.I recommend but warn you,the sex can be excessive and the story is sad even with the humor.Trailer URL follows the picture and a IMDB summary is below.

Maggie (Hathaway) is an alluring free spirit who won't let anyone - or anything - tie her down. But she meets her match in Jamie (Gyllenhaal), whose relentless and nearly infallible charm serve him well with the ladies and in the cutthroat world of pharmaceutical sales. Maggie and Jamie's evolving relationship takes them both by surprise, as they find themselves under the influence of the ultimate drug: love. Written by Twentieth Century Fox
